The Maine Retirement System Amendment
was on the November 7, 1995 ballot
as Question 6
. It was approved.
It was proposed as a constitutional amendment to the Maine Constitution by the Maine legislature. The amendment says that the state legislature is required to:
- Provide "sound funding" of the Maine State Retirement System.
- Pay off the system's unfunded liability in 31 years.
- Prohibit the creation of new unfunded liabilities.
