Marietta School District Bond Measure (May 2010)
|Not on Ballot|
| This measure did not or |
will not appear on a ballot
This measure had sought to create a bond in the amount of $48,000,000 in order to help pay for the construction, renovation, equipping and additions to various school buildings in the district. If this had been approved, it would have also enacted a $.5 addition to local property taxes in the area to help pay for the bond. The school district is overcrowded and it was hoped that with the passing of this measure, with new classrooms being built, students would obtain a better education. The Ohio School Facilities Commission was funding approximately 58 percent of the school construction project. School officials also stressed that if the bond is not passed, money would still be needed to upgrade the current buildings and that could costs residents more in the end.
