A Marion County Capital Sales Tax Renewal measure was on the April 3, 2012 ballot in Marion County.

This measure was approved

  • YES 3,932 Approveda
  • NO 1,057[1]

This measure sought to renew the current capital improvements sales tax which is set at a rate of 3/8th of a cent in order to continue to pay for road and bridge projects, law enforcement services, county building repair projects and equipment needs. Though the tax does not expire until 2014, county officials wanted to place the measure on the ballot now so that they could ensure that the funding would not be interrupted. County officials noted the needs and the significant amount of money generated from this tax, without its renewal there would have to be major cuts made to the county budget.[2]
