Marion County Library Levy Implementation (April 2011)
This measure was defeated with 53% against.
This measure sought to implement a property tax at a rate of $.10 per $100 of assessed property value for a period of five years in order to help pay for library services and operational costs. This levy would have supported all but two library district in the county, Hannibal and Monroe City have their own library funds. Library officials noted that since this measure was not approved it will be hard to maintain services at all the public libraries in the county and programs or services will likely be cut.
