Mark Gibson (Virginia)
Mark Gibson was a 2014 independent candidate seeking election to the U.S. House to represent the 11th Congressional District of Virginia.[1] He failed to qualify as a candidate with the Virginia Department of Elections, having submitted insufficient qualified ballot petition signatures.[2]
He was a 2012 independent candidate who sought election to the U.S. House to represent the 11th Congressional District of Virginia. He was defeated by Gerald Connolly on November 6, 2012.[3]

According to Gibson's website, his campaign themes included:
- Taxes: "Scrap everything and start fresh with a broad-based system that draws from three revenue sources: sales transactions, wage income, and investment income.
- Budget: "The long-term goal for the budget must be debt reduction to ease the burden of interest payments that now exceed 6 percent of the budget."
- Healthcare: "Reduce government's footprint – currently 50 percent of all U.S. healthcare spending – while seeking economies of scale."[4]

Gibson ran in the 2014 election for the U.S. House to represent Virginia's 11th District.[1] He failed to file with the Virginia Department of Elections prior to the filing deadline.[2]
2012
Gibson ran in the 2012 election for the U.S. House to represent Virginia's 11th District. He ran as an independent candidate. He faced Gerald Connolly (D), Chris Perkins (R), Peter Marchetti (I), Chris DeCarlo (I) and Joe Galdo (G) in the general election on November 6, 2012.[5] He was defeated by Gerald Connolly on November 6, 2012.[3]
