One down ballot state executive position was up for election in the state of Maryland in 2014. The general election took place November 4, 2014. Franchot won in the general election.

The 2014 race was a rematch of the 2010 election, when incumbent Peter Franchot (D) defeated William H. Campbell (R) for a second term. Franchot and Campbell were joined by independent candidate Anjali Reed Phukan.

Maryland is one of 21 states with a mixed primary system. Parties decide who may vote in their primary election and generally close it to all voters except those registered with their party.[1] A primary election was scheduled for June 24, but there was not a competitive primary for the comptroller's office.
