The Massachusetts Freedom of Speech Protection Amendment, also known as Question 1, was on the November 2, 1948 ballot in Massachusetts as a legislatively-referred constitutional amendment, where it was approved. The measure provided that “the right of free speech shall not be abridged.”[1]
