Wiedenhoeft was a potential 2014 Republican candidate seeking election to the U.S. Senate from Michigan. He declined to file for the election.[2]

Biography

Wiedenhoeft attended Muskegon Community College but chose to pursue professional hockey rather than finish school. After his decision to retire from playing hockey, he returned to school. Wiedenhoeft earned his B.B.A. in Accounting from Baker College and his M.B.A. in Strategic Management from Davenport University in 2013. His professional experience includes founding PALANO Consulting, a startup, sports and small business-consulting firm, in 2012 and working as an academic coach and adjunct instructor at Davenport University.[3]

Elections for the office of Michigan House of Representatives will take place in 2014. A primary election was held on August 5, 2014, and a general election will take place on November 4, 2014. The signature-filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was April 22, 2014. Don Bergman was unopposed in the Democratic primary. Incumbent Amanda Price defeated Matthew Wiedenhoeft in the Republican primary.[5][1][6]
