May 3 local election results show most measures approved
Local elections held in Ohio and Michigan on May 3 had a majority of measures approved, with a majority of the issues being asked focusing on school bonds and taxes. Ohio had 67 counties with issues on their ballots, a fair few of the school proposals being voted on had been on previous ballots. School districts like Warren and Little Miami had asked multiple times before to get approval of issues but were again defeated. The count in Warren was a difference of 8 votes so a recount is expected. Many schools though did get their extra money, as well as counties renewing taxes for services offered to kids, seniors and those with disabilities.
In Michigan, 39 counties had issue on the ballots, with a fair majority of school issues dealing with non primary residential property taxes. School bonds such as Port Huron and Washtenaw School easily passed.
