In March of 2010, Sunshine Review sent Illinois Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests to all 102 counties in Illinois, focusing on ten of the most populous counties in the state.

McLean County did not request an extension, which is 5 additional days under Illinois law. Sunshine Review sent the information request on February 19, and the county responded in full on February 23, 2010.

The first person contacted at the McLean County Clerk's office could not and did not want to help; the person did know a web address for FOIA information, but would not provide an address to contact an information officer.
