Menifee Union School District is a school district in California that serves the city of Menifee, California. It is the 172nd largest school district in California, serving 9,784 students in 12 schools with an operating budget of $59.0 million.[1][2]

Menifee Union School District is located in Riverside County, California in Menifee, California. According to the 2010 Census, it is home to 77,519 residents.[3]


Menifee outperforms the rest of California when measured on the percentage of residents living below the poverty level and percentage of residents over the age of 25 with a high school diploma. Menifee underperforms when compared to the state of California on percentage of residents aged 25 years and older attained a bachelor's degree and median household income. The median household income in Menifee was $60,805 compared to $61,632 for the state of California. 16.3% of Menifee residents aged 25 years and older attained a Bachelor's degree compared to a 30.2 in California. The United States Census also showed the poverty rate in Menifee was 8.3% compared to 14.4% for the entire state. The United States Census also found that 83.3% of Menifee residents aged 25 years and older attained a high school degree compared to a 80.8% in California.[4]

Dr. Steve Kennedy is the current Superintendent of Menifee Union School District. He has served in this position since being appointed unanimously in 2012. Kennedy earned his Bachelor's degree from San Diego State University and his Master's degree from National University. He earned his doctorate from Argosy University in Ontario.[8]

Academic performance

California's Standardized Testing and Reporting (STAR) program, which includes the California Standards Tests (CST), the California Modified Assessment (CMA) and the California Alternate Performance Assessment (CAPA), measures the achievement of California content standards for grades 2-11. STAR results include English and mathematics in grades 2-11, science in grades 5 and 8-11 and history/social science in grades 8, 10 and 11.
