Issues

Campaign themes

2014

Assad lists the following themes on his campaign website. See Assad's website for his position on other issues.

  • The Constitution: "The constitution is the law for lawmakers. It is the only protection we, the people, have against a government that is trying to change the relationship between the people and their elected representatives."
  • Immigration: "I believe that amnesty for illegal immigrants is unfair to those who have come to this country by following the rules and all those who believe in law and order."
  • Obamacare: "I support the full repeal of Obamacare. From the very beginning ‘Obamacare’ was misrepresented for political reasons. Had our elected leaders in congress known the true cost it would have never been passed. Obamacare makes no real attempt to alter the culture of defensive medicine and loaded uninsured people into the nation’s health insurance program with no idea of the real costs involved. I believe that congress has to enact a new program that makes reasonable changes to tort law liabilities and gives us a truly national insurance program that does not limit insurance choices to state boundaries."
  • Taxes: "America’s taxation system is broken beyond repair. At over 70,000 pages our tax code has become a roadblock to true national economic growth. Too many companies and businesses make investment decisions on the basis of the tax obligations. When the vast majority of taxpayers feel they have no choice but to employ a tax accountant in order to comply with the income tax act we have a system that is breaking our nation."
  • Spending: "The current level of spending in Washington is unsustainable without massive increases in the rate of income tax for the majority of ordinary Americans. Americans who are just now graduating from college with huge amounts of debt are faced with the real prospect of paying for Washington’s reckless and wasteful spending programs."
