Michigan is located in the Great Lakes region of the Midwestern United States. It was admitted to the Union in 1837 as the 26th state. The state capital is Lansing. However, Detroit is Michigan's largest city.

Michigan has two members of the U.S. Senate, a total of fourteen members of the U.S. House of Representatives, 110 members of the House of Representatives and 38 members of the State Senate.
