Mike Friend (1961-) is a former member of the Nebraska Unicameral. During Friend's tenure in the legislature, which began in 2002, he represented District 10.

Friend was a writer/journalist by profession, having earned a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from Creighton University in 1998. He attended University of Nebraska School of Law for one year. Prior to his election to the Nebraska Legislature, Friend wrote for the Nebraska City News-Press, and was a sports writer and editor with the Grand Island Independent. He was also a technical writer for two computer magazines at Sandhills Publishing in Lincoln, Nebraska.[1]

Mike Friend was born, and subsequently raised, in Omaha, Nebraska on October 4, 1961. Friend is currently married to Jacqueline Williams with four children and is known to be Catholic.

Friend attended Kearney State College from 1980 to 1982, earned his Bachelor's degree in journalism from Creighton University in 1985, and attended Creighton University Law School in 1987.

Friend began his professional experience as a technical writer for First Data Resources in 1996. In 1997, he worked as both a writer for Smart Computing Magazine and as an account manager for Sitel Corporation. He also began his current occupation in 1997 as a writer and editor for the First National Bank of Omaha.

Friend joined the Nebraska State Legislature as a senator in 2002.

Elections

On November 7, 2006, Friend won re-election to the 10th District Seat in the Nebraska Senate, defeating Robert Wimberley .[2]
