Micheal Hahn is a candidate for the Wisconsin State Assembly in the 45th Assembly District which consists of the Beloit Region.
Early life and career
Mike is a life-long Clinton-area resident; born in Janesville and raised in Clinton and Bradford Townships, where both sides of his family have lived for more than 100 years. He graduated from Clinton Community High School in 2001, and started college at the University of Wisconsin in Madison in the fall of that year.
In October of 2001, Mike and his older brother Derek both enlisted in the Wisconsin Army National Guard as part of Beloit's 1158 th Transportation Company. Mike completed Basic Training in June 2002 and went back to school at UW-Madison. In March 2003, the 1158 th was mobilized and Mike served for months at Fort McCoy, WI and five months at Fort Knox, KY. Once again, Mike returned to school in Madison in January 2004.
In October 2004, the 1158 was called again and this time the company spent 12 months in Kuwait and Iraq. Along with the rest of the 299 members of the 1158 th , Mike hauled equipment from Kuwait throughout Iraq from December 2004 until December 2005. He was honorably discharged in October 2007. Mike is currently a life member of the Clinton VFW Post 10430 and a member of the Dairy-Paulsen American Legion Post 440.
Since returning from Iraq, Mike worked to finish his Bachelor's Degree at UW-Madison. In the summer of 2006 and again in the summer of 2007 he worked as a legislative intern at the state capitol. During the Spring and Fall semesters of 2007, Mike also wrote a weekly column for The Badger Herald , UW-Madison's largest student newspaper. He graduated May 18, 2008 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History and Political Science.
Mike is also a 12-year former 4-H member and leader, and a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Clinton.
