The Minnesota Attorney General election took place on November 4, 2014. Incumbent Lori Swanson (D) was first elected in 2006 and was running for re-election. She defeated Republican candidate Scott Newman, Green Party candidate Andy Dawkins, Libertarian Party candidate Mary O'Connor, Independence Party candidate Brandan Borgos and Legal Marijuana Party candidate Dan R. Vacek. Swanson won another four-year term in the election.

Minnesota is one of 14 states that uses an open primary system, in which registered voters do not have to be members of a party to vote in that party's primary.[1][2][3]
