January 29, 2010

DOVER, Delaware: House Bill 245 was first passed on June 29, 2009 by the Delaware House of Representatives. Fast forward to today, and now the bill will receive a hearing in the Senate Insurance and Elections Committee. The bill, which was passed unanimously, will make the obstacle more difficult for minor parties to gain ballot access in the state.[1]

According to the specifics of the bill, it increases the number of registered voters needed for a political party to qualify for the ballot. The increase will be changed from 300 registered voters to about 600, or one-twentieth of 1% of the state total to one-tenth of 1% of the state total.
