HELENA, Montana: Montana governor Brian Schweitzer has become frustrated over ExxonMobil's lack of response to the governor's request for information on the July 1st oil spill and following cleanup efforts. In a letter to Exxon, Schweitzer asked the company to respond by July 18th with information on how they came up with the estimate that 42,000 gallons of crude oil were spilled. This letter follows Schweitzer's previous request to receive more data by July 15th -- the governor says he still hasn't received a response.[1]

Exxon initially reported that the pipeline was closed within six minutes of the leak, but federal records claim it took closer to an hour. Exxon has agreed to a September 9th deadline, saying "We have apologized and continue to apologize, but there is no attempt to delay or misrepresent."[2]
