Hanson ran in the 2012 election for North Dakota House District 6. Hanson and former District 7 incumbent Dick Anderson ran unopposed in the Republican primary on June 12. He was defeated by incumbents Bob Hunskor and Dick Anderson in the general election which took place on November 6, 2012.[1][2]
