Nandita Berry is the former Republican Secretary of State of Texas. She took office on January 7, 2014. She was appointed to the statewide office by Governor Rick Perry (R) on December 19, 2013. She replaced John Steen, who retired in order to return to private law practice.[1] Berry served in office until her replacement by Carlos H. Cascos on March 7, 2015.[2]


Berry worked as senior counsel for Locke Lord LLP prior to her appointment. She was previously the vice chair of the University of Houston Board of Regents and a board member with Houston Zoo, Inc.[3]

Berry became the Texas Secretary of State on January 7, 2014. She served in office until March 2015.[1]



Berry was appointed the 109th Secretary of State of Texas by Gov. Rick Perry on December 19, 2013.[4]


Berry and her husband, Michael, reside in Houston.[3]
