OMAHA, Nebraska: U.S. Senator Ben Nelson says recent polling results will be one consideration, but not the deciding factor in determining whether he runs for re-election in 2012. He says he will have to consider both family considerations and how he feels about running for another term. The recent poll by Hichman Analytics has Nelson at a 54 percent favorability rating and ahead of all three high-profile Republicans who are running for the seat. Nelson has a war chest of more than $3 million for a re-election campaign, but he says he won't make a final decision until the end of 2011. He was first elected to the United States Senate in 1990.[1]
