A New Buffalo Township Parks Levy Renewal measure was on the May 8, 2012 ballot in the township of New Buffalo which is in Berrien County.

This measure sought to renew the current parks levy which is set at a rate of $.24 per $1,000 of assessed value for a further five years in order to continue to pay for park and recreation maintenance and operational costs.[2]

Text of measure

The question on the ballot:

Shall the expired previous voted increase in the tax limitation imposed under Article IX, Section 6, of the Michigan Constitution in New Buffalo Township, of .25 mills (25 cents per $1,000 of taxable value), reduced to .2430 mills by the required millage rollbacks, be renewed at .2430 mills (24.3 cents per $1,000 of taxable value) and levied for five years, 2012 through 2016 inclusive, for park and recreation acquisition, maintenance, equipment, staffing, programming, operation and improvements, raising an estimated $127,974.00 in the first year the millage is levied based on the most recent taxable value.[3]
