ALBANY, New York: For several weeks, three New York State Senate races remained too close to call. Two of these leaned Republican and one leaned Democratic. However, all of these races have now been officially called as they leaned, giving Republicans a 32-30 majority in the senate. While one race has been appealled, Republicans seem to have avoided a Democratic trifecta, preventing them from holding the house, senate, and governorship. The follow are the three tight races:
District 7: Justice Ira Warshawsky of State Supreme Court has declared Jack Martins (R) the winner. Craig Johnson (D) has appealed the decision.
District 37: Bob Cohen (R) has conceded to Suzi Oppenheimer (D) and declined to request a hand recount.
District 60: Antoine Thompson (D) has conceded to Marc Grisanti (R).senate.
