Newaygo County Educational Service Levy Increase (May 2010)
This measure was approved
- YES 2,081
- NO 854
This measure sought to renew the .98 mill that is due to expire the end of 2010 and also add .16 mills to the tax. The tax will be in place for a further seven years and the money will be used to help students with disabilities. The tax was originally approved in 2004 and has generated around $1.4 million a year for the program. By having this tax separate from general school funds, school districts do not have to allocate money to this program and can use their money for other purposes.
