PROVIDENCE, Rhode Island: Three big Democratic names are currently running in the 2014 gubernatorial primary, Governor Lincoln Chafee, General Treasurer Gina Raimondo, and Providence Mayor Angel Taveras. No candidate has yet backed down from what could be a bloody primary showdown.[1]

Governor Chafee was initially elected as an Independent in 2010 but switched party affiliation on May 30, 2013. Prior to that, he was a member of the Republican party until 2007.[1]

Raimondo is currently leading in fundraising, with $2.1 million, compared to Taveras's $692,590 and Chafee's $377,391.[1]
