The North Dakota Hail Insurance Initiative, also known as Amendment to Section 177, was on the November , 5 1918 ballot in North Dakota as an initiated constitutional amendment, where it was approved. The measure created an acerage tax and used the revenue from it to provide hail insurance for farmers. A related legislatively-referred constitutional amendment was also passed in 1918, which empowered the legislature to create land taxes to fund hail crop insurance.
