Text of measure

Language on the ballot:

This proposal will allow the school district to maintain the number of mills required to be levied on all property, except principal residence and other property exempted by law, to enable the school district to receive its revenue per pupil foundation allowance and renews operating millage that will expire with the 2013 tax levy.

Shall the currently authorized millage rate limitation of 15.6363 mills ($15.6363 on each $1,000 of taxable valuation) on the amount of taxes which may be assessed against all property, except principal residence and other property exempted by law, in Northport Public School, Leelanau County, Michigan, be renewed for a period of 6 years, 2013 to 2018, inclusive, to provide funds for operating purposes; this millage will be levied in the amount of not to exceed 13.388 mills, required for the school district to receive its full revenue per pupil foundation allowance; the estimate of the revenue the school district will collect on 13.388 mills, if the millage is approved and levied in 2014, is approximately $3,118,611 (this is a renewal of millage which will expire with the 2013 tax levy)?[1][2]
