Located in the Midwestern United States, Ohio is bordered by Indiana, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Michigan, Kentucky and Canada. The state capital and also largest city is Columbus. Nicknamed “the Buckeye state,” Ohio was originally partitioned from the Northwest Territory before becoming the 17th state admitted to the Union. Currently, there are two members of the U.S. Senate, a total of sixteen members of the U.S. House of Representatives, 33 members of the Ohio State Senate and 99 members of the Ohio House of Representatives. As of September 2013, Ohio is one of 24 Republican state government trifectas.
