State Board of Education

The Ohio State Board of Education is comprised of 19 members serving four-year terms. Eleven members are elected from each of the eleven single member districts and eight are appointed by the Governor. The Superintendent of Education serves as secretary of the State Board of Education. The Board creates policy and makes recommendations for K-12 education in Ohio. The chairs of the education committees of the Ohio House of Representatives and Ohio Senate serve as non-voting ex officio members.[5][6]
