This measure received the unanimous support of the Senate. The Ohio House rejected the measure in July 2008, stating that they were opposed to taking on the debt the measure would require.
Commander Don Jeffrey wrote a letter of support for the amendment, which was posted by MansfieldNewsJournal.com, where he expressed his hopes for the measure to be placed on the November 2008 ballot. He added that "We owe Ohio's veterans a debt of gratitude. They deserve a modest service bonus in recognition of their service and sacrifice."
