Oklahoma granted $10 million by Labor Department to help clean-up efforts

OKLAHOMA CITY,Oklahoma: The U.S. Department of Labor will award $10 million in emergency grants to help clean up following the mid-May tornadoes that devastated parts of Oklahoma. Cleveland, Lincoln, McClain, Oklahoma and Pottawatomie counties will be eligible for the grants.
Risk Management Solutions Inc. estimated $3.5 billion worth of insured losses, including 20,000 damaged buildings and between 4,000 and 5,000 completely destroyed buildings. They did not include car insurance losses in their figures.
The grants will go to the state Commerce Department, with $5 million immediately available. The remainder will be released as the state meets federal guidelines.
