The Oregon Governor to Appoint Supreme Court Chief Justice Act, also known as Measure 5, was on the May 18, 1982 ballot in Oregon as a legislatively-referred state statute, where it was defeated. The measure would have empowered the governor to appoint the Chief Justice of the Oregon Supreme Court.[1]
