An effort to recall Pentwater School District President Pat Collins was launched in August 2009. The effort was launched by school board member Linda VanGills. However, in mid-August 2009, she said,"I made the motion and I should be the one recalled. I encourage the board to keep working together. There needs to be a certain level of trust." According to reports two recall petitions were rejected by the Oceana County Election Commission.[1]Defeatedd

Other board members have responded in support of Collins and against the recall effort. Board member Larry Doran said, "Most boards do not have someone in education sitting on the board. We are fortunate to have Pat with us. I commend her for her constant contact with the (Mason-Lake Intermediate School District) ISD. And I am thrilled to death to have her connections with West Shore CC, ISD, and the education she brings to the position."[2]

If the recall is approved it is estimated to cost $3,000.
