Paul Wieland (b. December 24, 1962) is a Republican member of the Missouri House of Representatives, representing District 112. He was first elected to the chamber in 2010.

Wieland is a 2014 Republican candidate for District 22 of the Missouri State Senate.[1]

Biography

Wieland's professional experience includes working as a territory manager at NFIB, sales manager at AMI warehouses, and owner of Benderman.

Issues

HHS lawsuit

In August 2013, Wieland and his wife filed suit against the United States Departments of Health and Human Services, Treasury and Labor, saying that in applying for the Missouri Consolidated Plan for government employees, Wieland was not given the chance to opt out of coverage for contraceptives and abortifacients because of a provision in the Affordable Care Act. Wieland, who is Catholic, said he is seeking a personal exemption on religious grounds, not a reversal of the provision.[2][3]
