A Peaine Township Airport Levy Increase measure was on the August 7, 2012 ballot in the township of Peaine, which is in Charlevoix County.

This measure sought to increase the current airport levy by a rate of $.75 per $1,000 of assessed value for a period of five years in order to further pay for operational costs of airport which is in the township.[2]

Text of measure

The question on the ballot:

Shall the expired previous voted increase in the tax limitation imposed under Article IX, Section 6 of the Michigan Constitution in Peaine Township, Charlevoix County, Michigan, of up to .75 mill ($0.75 per $1,000 of taxable value), reduced to .6906 mills ($.6906 per $1,000 of taxable value) by the required millage rollbacks, be renewed and increased up to the original voted .75 mill ($0.75 per $1,000 of taxable value) and levied for 5 years, 2012 through 2016 inclusive, on all taxable property in Peaine Township for the purpose of airport operations and maintenance and shall the Township levy such millage for these purposes? If approved and levied, this millage would raise an estimated $55,725 in 2012, which will be disbursed to the Peaine Township and the Beaver Island Airport Commission as approved by the Township.[3]
