Jump to: navigation, search

A Penticton City Jail Construction Question will be on the June 18 ballot in the city of Penticton.

This measure will ask city residents if they want the city to continue with plans to build a jail within the city limits. Protesters in from of the City Hall had convinced the City Commission that a vote on the issue should be held, though one member of the council had stated that he intended to start a petition drive to force the issue onto the ballot had the Council not decided on its own. The City Council plans to present the facts to the residents, noting that the binding referendum will allow for residents to have their say on the issue.[1]

Text of measure
