A Polk County Nonpartisan Commission Question was on the November 8, 2011 ballot in Polk County.

This measure was approved

  • YES 9,233 (75.05%)Approveda
  • NO 3,069 (24.95%)[1]

This measure sought to make it so that the Commissioner's positions would be non partisan. Since this was approved, the next vote for the Commissioner position will be in May 2012 and that is when the non partisan position will be implemented. This was the last position on the local level that was still partisan. It was brought to the ballot by a successful petition drive by residents, 1779 valid signatures had been needed to get the issue on the ballot. Non partisan positions is a common idea throughout Oregon, supporters of this measure note that this ensures balanced government, that candidates are not looking to the party line but rather what is best for the community.[2]
