Poynette Replace Elementary School Referendum (2008)

The Poynette Replace Elementary School Referendum was a school bond issue on the November 4 ballot in the School District of Poynette, which is in Columbia county. The purpose of the referendum was to add $13,675,000 to the school budget. The money would have been used to close the Arlington and Dekorra Elementary Schools, build a new Pre K-3 elementary school, and renovate the existing Poynette K-8 building.

Text of measure

Be it resolved by the School Board of the School District of Poynette, Dane and Columbia Counties, Wisconsin, that there shall be issued pursuant to Chapter 67 of the Wisconsin Statutes, general obligation bonds in an amount not to exceed $13,675,000 for the public purpose of paying the cost of constructing and equipping a new Pre K-3 elementary school; cloising the Arlington and Dekorra Elementary Schools; renovating the existing Poynette K-8 building and equipping it to be a grades 4-8 building; upgrading security systems in district buildings; and, removing asbestos

Defeated by 1,462 to 2,101.
