R.J. Palmer II (b. December 15, 1970) is a Democratic member of the Kentucky State Senate, representing District 28 and serving as State Senate Minority Leader. He was first elected to the chamber in 2000. He served in the Kentucky House of Representatives from 1999 to 2001.

Biography

Palmer earned his B.A. from Transylvania University and his M.B.A. from Eastern Kentucky University. His professional experience includes working as an Account Representative for Central Kentucky Corrugated Specialists and as Vice President of Central Bank, Winchester.

Elections for the office of Kentucky State Senate will consist of a primary election on May 20, 2014, and a general election on November 4, 2014. The signature-filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was January 28, 2014. Incumbent R. J. Palmer II is unopposed in the Democratic primary, while Ralph Alvarado is unopposed in the Republican primary.[1]

Palmer defeated Republican candidate Ralph Alvarado by a margin of 18,876 to 16,940 in the November 2 general election.[2]

In the May 18 primary election, Palmer defeated Ryan Dotson by a margin of 6,705 to 14,575.[3]
