Raj Mukherji is a Democratic member of the New Jersey General Assembly, representing District 33. He was first elected to the chamber in 2013.[1]


Mukherji earned his B.A. from Thomas Edison State College, his Master of Liberal Arts focused on national security from the University of Pennsylvania and his J.D. from Seton Hall Law School. His professional experience includes working as an entrepreneur co-founding a public affairs firm and serving as Deputy Mayor of Jersey City. Mukherji served in Military Intelligence for the United States Marine Corps Reserve from 2001 to 2009.[2]

Mukherji won election in the 2013 election for New Jersey General Assembly District 33. Mukherji was bracketed with Carmelo G. Garcia and defeated John Hilt IV, Anthony Mills, and Peter Basso in the June 4 Democratic primary. He and Carmelo G. Garcia (D) defeated Jude Anthony Tiscornia (R) and Armando Hernandez (R) in the general election, which took place on November 5, 2013.[3][4][5][6]
