He was a 2012 Libertarian candidate for District 105 of the Kansas House of Representatives.

Batson was a Libertarian candidate for District 95 of the Kansas House of Representatives.

Batson's opponents in the November 2 general election were Democratic incumbent Melany Barnes and Republican candidate Benny L. Boman. According to official results, Boman defeated Barnes and Batson with 1,834 votes; Barnes received 1,655 votes and Batson received 195.[5]
