Randy Hekman
Randy Hekman was a 2012 Republican candidate who sought election to the U.S. Senate from Michigan.
Biography
Hekman attended Wheaton Academy and graduated from MIT with a B.S. in 1969. He then earned his J.D. from the George Washington Law School in 1972, during which time he also served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy. He then returned to Grand Rapids to act as Assistant Prosecuting Attorney for Kent County. In 1975, he was elected as Probate-Juvenile Judge on the Kent County Probate Court. In the early 1990s, Hekman left to become the founding executive director of the Michigan Family Forum. He then served as executive director of CBH ministries before taking the role of pastor at Crossroads Bible Church.[1]

2012
Hekman ran in the 2012 election for the U.S. Senate, representing Michigan.[2] He was defeated by Pete Hoekstra in the Republican primary on August 7, 2012.[3]

Hekman has been married to his wife, Marcia, since 1969. They have twelve children and twenty one grand children.[4]
