A City of Ravenna Income Tax Vote was on the May 5, 2009 ballot in Portage County for voters in the City of Ravenna.[1] It was approved.[2]

  • Yes: 704 Approveda
  • No: 210

Voters decided whether to approve a 0.25 percent income tax. Proceeds from the income tax will go for capital improvements and operation of the water plant.

The measure replaces an existing 0.25 percent income tax that is set to expire this year the proceeds of which were used to pay down debt.

Should the measure had failed, the city's income tax will be 1.75%. Since the measure succeeded, the city's tax will be 2%.

The tax generates $950,000 a year in revenue. 86% of those who pay the tax are non-residents of the city but who generate an income from a business located in the city.
