WALSH COUNTY, North Dakota: Efforts to recall a Walsh County sheriff were given the green light this month as North Dakota Secretary of State Al Jaeger approved efforts for the petition circulation process. If a minimum of 1,236 valid signatures are collected and submitted to state officials then the recall election will move forward. Supporters have a year to collect the signatures.[1]

According to reports, the recall effort was launched following Walsh County Sheriff Lauren Wild's decision to fire Ron Nord, a local deputy. Nord had previously run against Wild in the November general election. Nord lost the election. Supporters of the recall effort reportedly have 27 people lined up to circulate the petitions.[2]
