Rene Garcia (b. July 10, 1974) is a Republican member of the Florida State Senate, representing District 38. He was first elected to the chamber in 2010.

Garcia served on the Hialeah City Council from 1997 to 2001, and in the Florida House of Representatives from 2001 to 2008.

Biography

Garcia earned his B.S. from Florida International University and his M.B.A. from the University of Miami. His professional experience includes working as Vice President of Community Relations at Dade Medical College.

On his campaign website, Garcia stressed the issue of health care, stating,
"Garcia’s passion for health care and his constituents is something that he works very hard to defend and foster. He has championed numerous causes for health care ensuring that everyone has rights and access to quality service health care. Garcia has always taken pride in protecting our most vulnerable children and seniors."[1]

The signature-filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was June 20, 2014.
