Rhode Island Question 1, also known as Transportation Bonds, was on the November 3, 1998 election ballot in Rhode Island. It passed with 68.1% of voters in favor.
Text of measure
The language that appeared on the ballot said:
- "Approval of this question will authorize the State of Rhode Island to issue its general obligation bonds, refunding bonds and temporary notes in an amount not to exceed $65,700,000 for transportation purposes. Approval and issuance of these bonds will provide funds to the Department of Transportation for interstate and non-interstate highways and bridges, congestion mitigation projects, transportation enhancement projects and State transportation facilities. Approval and issuance of these bonds will also provide State matching funds for the replacement of the Rhode Island Public Transit Authority maintenance facility located on Elmwood Avenue and funds for the construction of salt storage facilities."
