Rhode Island legislation may lead to casino vote
PROVIDENCE, Rhode Island: Legislation introduced in the Rhode Island House of Representatives seeks to allow a vote on whether the Newport Grand slot parlor can become a full scale casino. The Twin River slot parlor already has a question on the November 2012 ballot seeking to allow their slot parlor to be a full scale casino, but representatives in Newport county wanted to also give Newport Grand that ability as well. Nearby Massachusetts has further gambling establishments as Rhode Island lawmakers want to allow their state to remain competitive with gambling facilities. Though the new legislation does not spell out specific terms, it just makes note that allowing the casino at Newport Grand would be beneficial to the state.
