Issues

Campaign themes

2014

Fox's campaign website lists the following issues:[3]

  • Healthcare: "Patients come to my office for urgent care because they lost their insurance or their doctors, or both, and have nowhere to turn. Others have seen their premiums double or more, often for worse coverage than they had before. Obama promised that you could keep your insurance and your doctor, and save twenty-five hundred dollars per year. Our current Representative, Ms. Eshoo, made the same false promise (video link). Instead, patients have had their insurance cancelled, their premiums skyrocket, and lost their doctors to boot."
  • VA Hospital System Scandal: "The VA hospital scandal, where veterans are suffering and dying because that government-run health care system delays and denies their treatment and covers it up to boot, is Exhibit A in my congressional campaign to replace government-run health care with private, free-market health care."
  • Unemployment and the Economy: "A free market economy works better than a government-run economy because the more the government taxes, spends, and regulates, the higher the unemployment rate and the lower the growth rate. The ratio of working age persons with jobs to the working age population is worse now than when Pres. Obama took office despite trillions of wasteful spending (think Wall Street bailouts, cash for clunkers, Solyndra) with debt left for the young to repay."
  • Education: "Parents should have the primary responsibility for deciding how their children should be educated. School choice is the best way to assure this."
  • Women's Reproductive Rights: "Women should have the unfettered right to control their reproductive functions, including the right to terminate their pregnancies if they and their doctors agree to do so, up to the point of fetal viability, and thereafter if continued pregnancy poses a substantial threat to the women’s life. All measures that are not medically necessary for the health and safety of the woman should be eliminated. "
