Rio Community Exceed Revenue Limits (2008)

The Rio Exceed Revenue Limits referendum was on the May 20 ballot in the Rio Community School District, which is in Columbia County. The purpose of the referendum was to exceed the state-set revenue cap by $1,270,000 over three years, with the additional funds being directed to the school budget. The additional funds will be used to meet basic operating costs of the district.

The referendum previously appeared on the ballot on February 19 where it failed, 483 - 501.

Text of measure

Be it resolved by the School Board of the Rio Community School District, Columbia County, Wisconsin, that the revenues included in the School District budget be authorized to exceed the revenue limit specified in Section 121.91, Wisconsin Statutes, for the 2008-2009 school year by $295,000; for the 2009-2010 school year by $415,000; and for the 2010-2011 school year by $560,000, for non-recurring purposes consisting of ongoing program and maintenance costs


Passed, with 627 "yes" votes and 340 "no" votes.
