Candidate for
Arizona State Senate, District 11
Rita Dickinson was a Democratic candidate for District 11 of the Arizona State Senate. The primary election was on August 24, 2010, and the general election was on November 2.[1]

Dickinson has served as a State Democratic Committee Member and Precinct Committee Member for Legislative District 11. In 1988, she was a member of the Madison Elementary School Board. She then served as President of the Madison Elementary School Board from 1990 to 1991.


Dickinson earned her B.S. in education/Special Education and Music Education from Northern Arizona University in 1972. She went on to receive her MEd in Special Education from Northern Arizona University in 1973.

Dickinson has worked in the following positions: Special Needs Preschool Teacher, Special Education Coordinator, National Consultant and Sales Representative, Instructor for the Rio Salado Community College, Co-Author/Photographer for Creatures and Features of the Zoo, Creatures and Features of the Seashore, and Creatures and Features of the Desert, and Owner/President of A.M. Publications. She is currently employed as Program Specialist for the Early Childhood Special Education Unit of the Department of Education for the State of Arizona.

Dickinson was uncontested in the August 24 primary. She was defeated by Republican Adam Driggs in the November 2 general election.[3]
